Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy details what information ZahlMas ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects when you use our bill-splitting application.

1. Summary of Data Collection

In short: we do NOT collect, store, sell, or monitor your personal data. ZahlMas is built on serverless web APIs. You do not need to register an account, and we do not read your email, phone numbers, contacts, or real name.

2. What Data We Use and Why

  • Active Room Data: When you choose collaborative syncing, your group's details (friend names, item names, prices, allocations, and tip settings) are temporarily uploaded to Cloudflare KV. This data is fully transient and is only read by devices connected to the same 6-character room identifier.
  • LocalStorage Backup: To avoid losing progress, your active bill and settled dinner history are stored locally in your browser's Cache using the HTML5 `localStorage` API. This data remains on your physical device and never leaves your phone unless you choose collaborative room syncing.
  • Receipt OCR Files: Receipt processing (file uploads, raw text copying) is handled entirely client-side or transiently. No images are archived, indexed, or stored on our servers.

3. Third-Party Integrations

Our serverless services are hosted on Cloudflare Pages & Workers. Cloudflare may process technical network details (like IP addresses, request headers, and technical page load metrics) solely to protect our services against DDOS attacks and ensure global routing efficiency. No personal profiles are compiled.

4. Cookies

ZahlMas does not use tracking cookies, advertiser cookies, or analytics marketing scripts. We strictly use native browser LocalStorage to persist your language preferences (English or German) and local history.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Since we do not collect or archive personal data linked to your identity, we cannot query or delete records on your behalf. You can fully delete all your data at any time by wiping your browser history/cache or leaving your current collaborative room code in the app.
